Seattle Doctor Blows Whistle on CDI for Alleged Upcoding and Illegal Kickback Scheme

Radio-Imaging Giant, Center for Diagnostic Imaging, preliminarily has announced that it will settle false claims allegations for $1.2 million, but the whistleblowers who filed the claim will fight the settlement as far below the actual damages involved.  Dr. Alexander Serra is a radiologist who was witness to CDI’s alleged kickback and  upcoding scheme. Former CDI vice president, Patricia West, joined Serra’s suit with details of her knowledge of the company’s practices and additional allegations that she was fired by the company for attempting to stop it from within. Whistleblowing was once consider taboo for healthcare professionals; however, more and more doctors and inside-executives are coming forward to denounce Medicare and Medicaid fraud, standing up for the integrity of their profession.
