Defense Contractors John and Tahir Ramin Indicted for Bribery in Afghanistan

John and Tahir Ramin, owners of defense contracting trucking company AZ Corporation, could each spend 15 years in prison for bribing U.S. military officials, claims DoJ. According to an indictment returned last week, the brothers paid Sgts. Charles O. Finch and Gary M. Canteen $50,000 “to influence the award of a DOD trucking contract to AZ Corporation, an Afghan contracting company.” Three former military officials have pleaded guilty in the Northern District of Illinois to receiving bribes from the Ramins and AZ Corporation. The indictment against the Ramin brothers is the latest in a string of prosecutions at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan previously reported by FraudBlawg. The brothers are presumed innocent and await trial.
